Hayako “Helen” Matsui, 97, of Waipahu, Oahu, and formerly of Hilo, died April 30 in Waipahu. Born in Hilo, she was a retired clerk typist for the federal government. Private services held. Survived by sisters, Toshiko (Tokuji) Ono of Honolulu and Emiko “Amy” (Masayuki) Sugikawa of Laupahoehoe; nieces and nephews.

Danita Renee Nalani (Uribe) Velez, 40, of Mt. Angel, Ore., and formerly of Hilo, died Jan. 19 in Salem, Ore. Born in Hilo, she was a registered nurse at the Oregon State Penitentiary. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rod Haili Tent in Panaewa. Memorial service at 11 a.m. For additional information, friends may call her mother, Norma Richardson, at 895-0052. Private scattering of ashes to be held. Casual attire. No flowers. Survived by son, David Uribe of Mt. Angel; daughter, Sharyn Uribe of Mt. Angel; adoptive mother, BB Walker of Mt. Angel; mother, Norma (Joseph Jr.) Richardson of Hilo; brothers, Joey (Kristi) Richardson III and Ronald (Karyss) Richardson, both of Hilo; sister, Sharyn (Shannon) Herrington of Hilo; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
